When my family and I moved to Orlando, Florida (by the Lord’s leading) to start a church, we knew no one and had no financial support.
But, we did have the Lord on our side as our Helper.
Because of a lack of funds, we were meeting at a half-way house with the few people we had. By God’s grace they let us meet there for free!
During this time, in prayer, the Lord revealed to me that it was not Him withholding the funds to purchase land and to construct a building. He revealed that it was the devil, and that I should speak in His Name to the devil. I was to tell the devil who is called the hinderer in Scripture (I Thessalonians 2:18), that he was to take his hands off of our finances and release what the Lord had already ordained for us to possess. The following Sunday, (November 11,1990) I explained this to our fledging congregation, and I had us all speak to the devil in the Name of Jesus for financial release, as the Lord instructed.
Here are a few of the declarations I made to the congregation that day:
God had promised and given Israel the promise land before they ever physically possessed it. What was standing between God’s promise of the land and Israel’s actual possession of it? An Enemy! (Numbers 13:2, 33) God gives the blessing, but it is our job to possess what God has given. God is not withholding anything from us–the devil is. Now, if God had already given, why don’t we see it? Because there is a third person in the scheme of things, called the devil. He is a thief, a robber, and a devourer according to the Scriptures. What is it that he steals? That which belongs to us!
I went on to say:
You can hear of God’s riches for you, but you will never possess them until you deal with the thief who is out to rob you of all that God has promised, and in fact has already given.
Finally I said:
We have power, in the Name of Jesus, to take what God has given.
After this, we spoke to the devil, believing in what we were saying. Literally and miraculously, like a breaking dam, a financial flood of increase came. The devourer was rebuked and the windows of Heaven were opened. Immediately, after this command to the devil in the Name of Jesus, finances began to flood in from people I had never met and did not know. Within two weeks, we had thousands of dollars to purchase the land with cash.
For instance, I received a phone call from a person who said a lady I had never met wanted to build me a church! She did! We purchased land and built our first building debt-free! There was a series of miracles that happened which made this possible.
Let me lift up one other notable financial miracle. I have never met Evangelist Benny Hinn. If I was in his presence, he would not have a clue of who I am. In those days Benny Hinn pastored a church in Orlando, Florida. On December 11, 1990, his church gave us $45,000, with a pledge to give a total of $150,000 for the construction of a building. This happened exactly one month after we rebuked the devil. In our first year of ministry in Orlando we built our first building debt free! We have built three buildings and owe not one penny on anything! I have never pressured our people for money–not once. In fact, I don’t even mention money. The associate ministers receive the offerings.
We are an inner-city church and have seen the Lord provide supernaturally. I share this with you, for the glory of God, in hope that this testimonial will inspire your faith in the power residing in the most wonderful Name of our precious Lord. HIS NAME IS JESUS!
